1. “There are no rerides on life better make it count ol son.” -Dale Brisby

Dale Brisby1

Life is a one-time offer; we should use it for better opportunities. There is no chance of living it twice. We should use this life which has been given to us to the full and make use of it for the better. If you want to be a singer, then you have the will and perseverance then becomes a singer.

If you want to go and fight for your country’s pride in the army, then do it. There are no second chances provided to us; we should grab the chance and go with it.

2. “Do it, then talk about it.” -Dale Brisby

‘Actions speak louder than words.’ It is a famous proverb meaning what someone actually does means more than what they say they will do. From which we can learn, do it first and then talk about it. We should achieve what we want to achieve in life without wasting much time. We should do it in silence without telling everyone what we are doing.

When everyone knows about what we are doing, we often fail. Secretly preparing for cracking an entrance examination to get to the desired University was my motive while studying. I never disclosed my Dream University to which I would be going. Instead, I focused and studied hard to achieve my dream.

After which, I told my friends that I got admission to the University which I wanted to be the most. Working hard in silence and then telling about it later is the theory that I have practised for a long. So from now, don’t reveal your goals to everyone; instead, keep some mystery over it.

3. “Ride bulls, punch fools.” -Dale Brisby

Bull riding is a rodeo sport that involves a rider getting on a bucking bull and attempting to stay mounted while the animal tries to buck off the rider. Dale Brisby describes himself as a legendary bull rider and Snap chatter; he is one of the greatest rodeo cowboys alive. It is his biggest accomplishment being the greatest bull rider to ever walk the earth.

His passion for riding the bulls is seen here, as he thinks it is higher. He says two things here, one riding bull, which is obviously his favourite task and punching the fools, which probably may be his second after this.

4. “Iron sharpens iron, but the pencil writes in lead.” -Dale Brisby

For sharpening the iron, iron is used. There is a mutual benefit in the rubbing of two iron blades together, as the edges become sharper, making the two irons more efficient in the task of cutting and slicing. But the pencil writes in lead. The pencil is made of lead, and it is the material through which we write.

We cannot write with iron or anything else but with lead which is soft in nature. Iron is sharpened with iron, but lead cannot be sharpened with lead. Although they both are metals, they are different in their structure and their work. Iron is used to make gates and utensils and can be moulded into any shape, but lead is used in batteries and pencils to facilitate writing.

5. “Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things.” -Dale Brisby

Dale Brisby2

Petty things are the things which are unimportant. What’s not important to us, we shouldn’t waste our time, energy and our sweat on it. Exercising when I am already healthy enough is a petty thing to do for me, but it is an important thing for an obese. As we shouldn’t sweat for the petty things, we also shouldn’t pet the sweaty things, maybe a bull or a horse which is sweating.

This line creates a rhyming scheme, petty – sweaty, sweat – pet. Dale wanted to say in this to not do things which are unimportant to do but do the things which are important for you, and to rhyme with this, he uses the animals as he is into bulls and horses. He says not to pet the sweating things just to rhyme, and it denotes that it is also a useless task to pet something which is sweating.

6. “People try to tie credit for.” -Dale Brisby

People often want to take credit for even a small task that he/she has done for them. Taking credit for the things that you barely do is unacceptable and shows your incompetence. When a senior of mine helped me in my studies when I felt ill, she never took credit for helping me with my studies. Rather she would always say that it was you who did it, and I was barely there to help.

But a friend of mine who just suggested applying for a certain internship took all the credit when I joined the internship and told everyone in my friend circle that she got it, all thanks to her. People have a tendency to admire themselves even when they don’t do anything.

7. “You ain’t no cowboy.” -Dale Brisby

This is a famous quote by Dale Brisby printed on every t-shirt, cup and many items. He was introducing his truck which makes him a cowboy that was his father’s father and his father’s truck and so on. If you have no picking singing in your truck, then you are not a cowboy; if you don’t have work gloves, then you are not a cowboy; if you don’t have whisky in your truck, then you are not a cowboy, you should have flatbed in your truck to be a cowboy, you don’t have leggings in your truck then you are not a cowboy.

If you don’t have a rope in your truck then you are no cowboy, if you don’t have gooseneck hitch in your truck then you are no cowboy. He has defined what it is to be a cowboy and what things are required in your truck to be a cowboy.

8. “You’ve got 3 wishes…. you’ve used up 2. What’s your 3rd wish?” -Dale Brisby

The last wish when you have used up could be the most desirous yet confusing task to choose among all the wishes you have got in your mind. If I got a chance and there was my last wish which could be fulfilled, it would be the ability to hear someone’s thoughts. Do you think about the reason, right?

The reason is obvious, the people I have met in my life say something and do the opposite thing. They often mistake me for a fool who will agree to whatever they have to say. I wanted to know their true nature through this ability. It doesn’t matter what they say to me or what they are thinking and not saying. Isn’t it cool? So what will be your third wish?

9. “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.” -Dale Brisby

Dale Brisby3

‘Be yourself, is the most famous and most common proverb we hear and see everywhere. The effort to be yourself does not mean one should deny or not fix their shortcomings. We should fix our shortcomings, become true to our nature and be the best version that we can ever be. One should claim the best version of themselves after giving considerable thought to who we really are as a person.

If you are rude, this is a character flaw that should be dealt with for your sake and for the sake of everyone around you. The self in is yourself does not include incidental or temporary characteristics but elements of your core identity which should be found and used. We should be what we are and should not copy anyone because everyone else is taken.

10. “If you’re gonna be dumb, you better be tough.” -Dale Brisby

In the movies, we have seen the people who are dumb are often the ones who are the toughest people. This is because even if they get knocked down by the bullies or the stronger person, they will stand up again, and they won’t fight back. They have the habit and have gone through it many times, which makes them tougher day by day by swallowing their pride.

So if you are dumb, then it should be tough; if you are not tough to tolerate everything, then you won’t survive in this nasty world.
